Urban Gypsy (Sahira and Zymirrah)
Urban Gypsy is Houston's premiere American Tribal Style dance troupe and is composed of six incredibly talented and dedicated dancers passionate about bringing the beauty and grace of tribal dance to the Houston scene. Sahira and Zymirrah are founding members of the troupe and also serve as its leadership.
In 2006, they had the honor (and thrill!!) of being the first tribal dancers invited to teach at Ahlan Wa Sahlan, the largest bellydance festival in the world, in Cairo, Egypt.
Here is the url to a video of Urban Gypsy performing a Ghawazee-style dance at the 3rd Coast Tribal Festival:

Zymirrah
A long time student and lover of dance, she has been dancing since 1990, when she began studying American Egyptian style belly dance. She added Tribal Style to her repertoire in 2001 and became a founding member of Urban Gypsy in 2003. Her dance has taken her all over the US and internationally.
Zymirrah's teaching style is gentle for beginners and still challenging for those with more experience. She often leads students through visualizations to a deeper understanding of what muscles are firing during movement. Zymirrah credits her understanding of anatomy to her long time fascination with the workings of the human body, her work with physical therapists and yoga.
Zymirrah is dedicated to sharing and developing our dance. She currently teaches and performs with Urban Gypsy . Urban Gypsy sponsors 3rd Coast Tribal Dance Festival, one of the best tribal dance festivals in the South.
